Cancellation & Refund Policy

1. How cancellations work on StayInVaranasi

StayInVaranasi is a marketplace that connects travellers with property hosts in Varanasi. We do not own or operate any of the listed properties. Cancellation policies are set by the individual host of each property and may vary from listing to listing.

Before confirming a booking, please review the property's specific cancellation terms — these are visible on the property detail page or can be confirmed directly with the host via the contact details listed.

2. Default cancellation tiers

Where a host has not specified a custom policy, the following default tiers apply to bookings made through our platform:

3-7 days before check-in 50% refund
Less than 3 days before check-in No refund
No-show No refund

3. How to cancel a booking

  1. Contact the property host directly using the phone or email shown on the property detail page
  2. Inform them of your cancellation in writing (email/SMS preferred for record-keeping)
  3. Forward your cancellation request to hello@stayinvaranasi.com with your booking ID for our records
  4. If a refund is due, the host will process it via the original payment method (typically within 7-10 business days)

4. Force majeure cancellations

If a booking cannot be honoured due to circumstances beyond either party's control — natural disasters, government restrictions, transport strikes, medical emergencies with documentation — we encourage hosts to offer flexible refunds or rescheduling. We will mediate between guest and host on request.

5. Host cancellations

If a host cancels a confirmed booking from their side, the guest is entitled to a 100% refund regardless of when the cancellation occurs. Repeated host-side cancellations may result in suspension or removal of the listing from our platform.

6. Disputes

Most cancellation issues are resolved directly between guest and host. If you are unable to reach a resolution, email hello@stayinvaranasi.com with your booking ID, the property name, and a brief description of the issue. We will respond within 3 business days and help mediate where possible.

Note: StayInVaranasi acts as an intermediary. Final decisions on refunds rest with the host or, where applicable, with the payment processor.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to registered hosts via email. The version dated above is the current effective version.
